Hello, dear friends. Today we’re going to put a soothing classic on your face that’s sure to bring a smile to your face – my Savory Swedish Meatballs! These little flavor bombs are perfect for a cozy dinner or sharing with loved ones. They are super easy to make and wonderfully satisfying. Let’s get some cooking. Yields: About 20-25 meatballs Preparation time: 15 minutes Cooking time: 20-25 minutes ** What you will need:** For meatballs:
1 lb ground beef (the slim is great!) 1/4 cup chopped onion (or 1 tsp onion
powder for ease)1/4 cup breadcrumbs (with plain or Italian seasoning)
1 large
eggs, slightly beaten
1/4 cup milk (no matter what kind you want)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil or butter for browning
For the creamy sauce:
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups beef soup (low sodium levels are a good choice)
1/4 cup heavy cream or half-half
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional, for extra zing!)
A pinch of nutmeg (optional but kind!)
Salt and pepper
to taste ** Let’s do some magic! ** Mix the meatballs magic: In a medium bowl, gently mix the ground beef, chopped onion (or onion powder), breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, salt and pepper. Do not overmix –, we want soft meatballs!
** Shape them up:** Roll the mixture into small, bite-sized balls about 1-1.5 inches in diameter. This recipe will make about 20-25 meatballs. Brown These Beauties: Heat the olive oil or butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. Gently add the meatballs in batches, making sure not to cram the pan
together. Brown them from all sides until they have a nice golden brown color. This usually takes about 5-7 minutes per item. After it’s browned, Remove the meatballs from the pan and set aside on a plate.
** Whip Up the Wonderful Sauce:** In the same pan (no need to wash!) Melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook, stirring constantly, for about 1 minute until it forms a smooth paste (this is called roux!). ** Pour into the broth:** Gradually stir in the beef soup,
a little at a time until the sauce is smooth and lump-free. Simmer, stir occasionally until slightly thickened.Add the creaminess: Stir in the heavy cream or half. If you have dijon mustard or nutmeg use, mix it with now.
Simmer and Savor: Gently return the roasted meatballs to the pan with the sauce. Reduce the heat to low, cover and leave to steam for 10-15 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce will be wonderfully creamy. Season with salt and pepper.
Serve these delightful Swedish meatballs with fluffy mashed potatoes, egg pasta, or even rice garnish. Clean comfort in a bowl!
Enjoy every delicious snack! Let me know if you try them and what do you think!?? ️ .
